Girl's Trip Junkin Layout using Hip Kit's March Kit/Maggie Holmes

I created this scrapbook layout the other day to play along
with a weekly challenge for the Hip Kit Club Facebook Forum.
I started to receiving Hip Kit Club monthly kits
last year and I am so hooked!

I used the March Hip Kit 2018
 it's filled with amazing products...
Why not JOIN Hip Kit Club more details HERE!

It all started with a weekly sketch and a beautiful kit....oh and coffee!

The kit is filled with many different brands of scrapbooking products
one that I used a lot through out this layout was the Maggie Holmes Flourish collection.
I knew I wanted to use this photo of my daughter Olivia and I, we were
heading out for a day of shopping, junking and spending good time together.
I was like quick lets take a selfie....she giggles!

I just love this layout and I must say I know it's cause I love layers!

When I saw the hearts on the sketch I knew I wanted to create a garland, who doesn't love a flowing garlands....this girl does!

OMG love this little dear!
But now I don't have another one, time to go shopping.

If you know me you know I love floral's....and in the Maggie Holme
Flourish collection is filled with them....and pretty little animals.
Like this little Quail she is so adorable (reminds me of a memory of my
oldest brother who raised Quail's in high school)
see scrapping brings back memories.

One of my favorite layers in this layout is the old dictionary page that
I ripped out of the old dictionary book I got
at a flea market trip.
It's hard to see in the photos but
I used the page all about the word
"JUNK" !

I haven't scrapbook in awhile life gets busy so I have decided this year to
take more time for what I really love to do.

Thanks for stopping by today and scrap on!

Altered Mini Canvas Heart Necklace

With Valentine's Day coming up this weekend, I've been
busy making Valentine decorations, handmade cards, etc....
So this got me thinking why not a piece of jewelry!

Here is my altered
"Mini Canvas Heart Necklace"

I gathered up some items new and old...vintage finds!

It all started with a Canvas Corp Mini Canvas Banner Shape.
I colored my raw canvas piece with Tattered Angels glimmer mist.
Folded the mini canvas shape in half, cut out a heart shape.

Here is some yummie color mists and glaze!!
Lobster, Red Chillies, Wedding Pink, Woven Burlap
and Plumeria Glimmer Glaze.

Time to embellish!!
I first covered my heart with a stencil
and modeling paste let it dry.
Punched my holes added eyelets
to create my chain through.

The open space was great to tuck in
7Gypsies lace just having it peeking out.
Gathered some vintage lace, trims and buttons
to embellish!

Enjoy the close up photos...

Thanks for stopping by today.

Hope this inspires you to gather a few supplies
and create your own altered jewelry.

Gypsies Moments "Heart with Wings" Art Canvas

Happy Valentine's Day
Canvas Corp Brands

What a great way to celebrate this LOVE Day...than with one of our first Canvas Corp Brands Challenges (see more canvas art on the Canvas Corp Brands blog...they asked us to come up with a canvas to best defines us as a creative person and designer...our style that best suits us. I knew from the moment I saw 7gypsies "Gypsies Moments"  new paper line and 4 x 4 canvas. I started gathering my vintage shabby chic treasures I have laying around my home...to inspire me everyday.

I also wanted to create my canvas with a "heart with wings"
and my love for vintage mother of pearl buttons...

Tutorial

Step 1. Take modeling paste and
(this is so fun and great to create your own colored paste)

Step 2. After you blended the mist and paste well...
grab a stencil and pallet knife and smear on the paste over
stencil onto the canvas.

Step 3. Gathering your favorite mist...I used Tattered Angels Glimmer mist in
Tattered Leather and Simply Sheer in Baby Blue.
I also did a white wash over the whole
canvas using water mixed with gesso, then dry.

Step 4. I wanted to give my canvas a antique weathered look and feel.
about a teaspoon full in a tea saucer with water.

Step 5. Brush on glimmer mist wash over the canvas (using
a brush I control where I want to highlight darker areas).

Step 6. Now I poured the wash over the whole canvas and
let it set on Canvas Corp canvas then drip excess off the canvas in saucer.

Step 7. Used a heat tool to dry and set the wash.

Step 8. I grabbed my favorite flowers Burlap Textured Blooms by Petaloo
I sprayed these colors on the flower bloom and heat set.

Step 9. I gathered my pieces for my altered heart.
Chip board, Canvas Corp Printed Papers, Heart Die....

Die cut the pieces, glue together, distress the edges, add
touches with layers of gesso and drying them to bubble...

Step 10. Adding my favorite new papers from 7gypsies "Gypsies Moments"!!

I hope and prayer you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Art for 5 Day's-Day 2 "Vintage Mini Album & Altered Paper Bag & Gift!!!

Day 2:  Art for 5 Days
Today I bring you a couple of my favorite creations..
that's right I had a hard time choosing only one for Day 2.
So I decided there is no rules to this sharing of my Art for 5 Days...
Why not share what I really love!!

First up is my
"True Beauty Vintage Mini Album"
The Marion Smith Designs Team has created a mini album farewell! Vintage is my middle name with a twist of shabby chic! I have been collecting many vintage inspired items such as mother of pearl buttons, lace, old book, photos, little bits & pieces....etc. I was flipping through the beautiful paper collections of Marion's (or I should say my scraps..lol). I created this shabby little lovely with Marion's papers (Never Grow Up, Motley, Garment District, Nirvana), along with her Junque & Gems, Doilies, resin flowers. I created the flowers (on cover) with her Bloom Tool, Dies and papers! I felt that the papers needed a vintage backdrop...so old book pages it was!! This mini is simple, vintage and busting with a shabby chic feel......simply love!
Hope you all enjoy flipping through the inspiration of "Something Old with Something New"!!!!
You can see more details and close up's on my blog, here.
I just love the way this mini album came out.
and Marion's papers have so many images you
can fussy cut out and use as embellishments.

and
another paper bag for you to enjoy....

Marion Smith Designs Blog-Wall Art "Valentine Rose" & Tutorial

My post on the Marion Smith Designs blog....
Good morning today I bring you some Valentine eye candy!!
I have started early creating my own wall art/home decor for our home.
Using the Mad Tea Party paper collection by Marion Smith....and embellishment page
to create my Valentine Rose wall art piece.
I love the shabby chic vintage feel and look...

The lovely embellishment pages from the Mad Tea Party
paper line works great for wall art, cards, scrapbook pages.

Wall Art Tutorial
Prime wood piece with gesso, add texture with your favorite mask/stencil.
Spray your favorite mist...I used glimmer mist!
Give it a white wash with gesso...that is your background to build upon.
Rip the edges of the paper you choose, along with tearing holes
in your paper to give old feel...distress the edges with ink.
I also used a wet paint brush to moist the edges to curl up...
Pick your favorite flowers and embellishments...I gesso the fake
flowers and glimmer mist the Petaloo white flowers...great way to get the color you want.
Wood Veneers are great to add to your project...colored
with glimmer mist..stamp on and cut apart to tuck into your project.

Thanks for stopping by today,
Hugs
