Christmas in July-Handmade Ornaments

Christmas in July-Handmade Ornaments

Make wonderful gifts for friends and family as well as adorning your home for
the holidays or using them as gift tags to hang on your wrapped gifts!

Over on my Facebook I did a LIVE creating these handmade ornaments, here.

I used a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die to cut out these ornament shapes...I gathered items to embellish the
ornaments like vintage textured wallpaper, olde book paper, vintage music sheets, glitter, flowers, buttons....so much more....just search your scrappy supplies and have fun!

I also used printables, I search for free printables and printed away, cut
them out and glue to chipboard!

I also used Prima's Sweet Peppermint paper collection to create this mint green ornament with
Santa No Peeking....just so adorable!

Glitter and pipe cleaners are the cutest embellishments for ornaments for that vintage look and feel!
Who doesn't love glitter....lol

I even white washed my chip board ornament shapes with white paint, and cut out Santa heads
from the scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby....just love how simple and sweet these turned out.

Tattered "JOY" Banner with Canvas Corp Brands

Tattered "JOY" Banner
I love this little beauty I created with many different
Love the handmade tattered look with the pastel color tones for
a shabby vintage feel!

I first started to create canvas tags then when I had them line up
together I was oh a banner maybe. I grabbed Canvas Corp Black/Ivory Plaid
card stock, cut to size. I distressed the edges added modeling paste with a stencil "lace"
then added Tattered Angels High Impact Paint in White, where I did
a layer of white wash let dry, added Tattered Angels glimmer mists in Red Tipped Rose,
Wedding Pink, Dazzling Diamonds, Pink Coral and Crushed Shells. Just
kept painting and drying to get the desired look I was going for "SHABBY"!

Punched the eyelet holes strung with the Canvas Corp Jute Rope (I pulled it
apart to in half)...this helped threading it through the holes. Tied together.

The inspiration was the new 7Gypsies Seamstress paper collection and with Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia Die. Oh this paper collections is just delish and screams vintage, so I knew I wanted
to use this for my banner. I die cut the poinsettia flower out of the paper and canvas then I
white washed the pieces, added glitter to the edges...I also used the Tim Holtz Tattered Pine cone Die with the Canvas Corp Black/Ivory Plaid card stock and painted it blue with the Tattered Angels High Impact paint-Blue....love this paint cause it allows the pattern to show through!

 "JOY"
chip board letters
I painted white covered with thick layers
of Gesso and heat set them to bubble. After dried I painted again with the Tattered Angels High Impact Paint-Blue...love the texture!

Last panel I embellished with an canvas ornament
I die cut out another Tim Holtz Carved Ornaments...I ran it through a Maggie
Holmes music embossing folder...
painted it with Gesso with Rose Color Fragments, Glitter and buttons.
Love Love Love

Last touch was covering all the panels with Diamond Dust Glitter,
also added 7Gypsies Lace
and trims glued to the bottom of the banner for shabby feel.

I really enjoyed gathering my Canvas Corp Brands supplies and created this
fabulous Tattered "JOY" Banner for my home. There is nothing better than creating your very own Christmas decorations and gifts...why not start by stopping over at the Canvas Corp Brands Shop and start gathering!!! Thanks so much for stopping by get creative and make memories.

ccb-october-2016-challenge

Here is what I came up with...this challenge sure did challenge me!

Shabby Chic
Altered Mask

I started with a plain white mask from the craft store,
then I glued beads, buttons and pearls to the mask.
Painted it completely white...
Next was to add color....I pulled out my Tattered Angels
Glimmer mists, and started to spray and spray...so much fun.

I also used crackle paste to add beautiful texture...where the glimmer mist
sipped into the cracks...just love this effect.

Grabbed some of the Canvas Corp Brands burlap and muslin,
7Gypsies lace, book and music paper, Petaloo butterfly, Tim Holtz
Tattered Floral Die, created my own flowers.
And of course used Tattered Angels glimmer mist to add amazing
colors to the flowers and mask.

This challenge differently pushed me out side
my creative box, but it was totally fun and worth it..
it's great to try new things and try new products.

Love the rustic texture with the shabby lace mixture!

Altered Mini Canvas Heart Necklace

With Valentine's Day coming up this weekend, I've been
busy making Valentine decorations, handmade cards, etc....
So this got me thinking why not a piece of jewelry!

Here is my altered
"Mini Canvas Heart Necklace"

I gathered up some items new and old...vintage finds!

It all started with a Canvas Corp Mini Canvas Banner Shape.
I colored my raw canvas piece with Tattered Angels glimmer mist.
Folded the mini canvas shape in half, cut out a heart shape.

Here is some yummie color mists and glaze!!
Lobster, Red Chillies, Wedding Pink, Woven Burlap
and Plumeria Glimmer Glaze.

Time to embellish!!
I first covered my heart with a stencil
and modeling paste let it dry.
Punched my holes added eyelets
to create my chain through.

The open space was great to tuck in
7Gypsies lace just having it peeking out.
Gathered some vintage lace, trims and buttons
to embellish!

Enjoy the close up photos...

"Love Wishes" Valentine Card & Envelope & Tutorial in Canvas Corp Brands Style

Oh I am so thrilled to finally share that I am part of amazing team for
Canvas Corp Brands....you will see more about this coming up soon!

But while we wait for this...how about a challenge?
We have a Crew Challenge-Valentine Card with a story, see more details
over on the Canvas Corp Brands Blog, here.

Here is my
 Crew Challenge-Valentine Card & Envelope.

"Love Wishes"

Part of the challenge was to share a story about who we were going to give our Valentine to.

My story is this...

As I sat at my creative table looking at the blank Canvas Corp Kraft Card & Envelope, tapping my finger my eyes happen to glance down to the tote filled with amazing products from Canvas Corp Brands...my eye spied popping "RED" burlap sheet! I said that's it!!!
I knew I wanted the pop of "RED" with Kraft was made for each other.
It all started rolling..as I was aging the Kraft tag, and distressing the edges of the hearts...My hubby walked by and says oh my that is so cool and pretty.
I love it when he does this! I always enjoy creating something for him right out in the open with him walking by making cute remarks. Like how he loves this or that and for this card he was so taking in by the pop of red with the black and Kraft. He is my biggest fan and loves what I design and create.

He is My Valentine!

The "Love Wishes" banner was such a fun idea...I didn't have alot of Valentine papers...but I did have the new Canvas Corps "His & Hers" Wedding paper. I fussy cut the words, distressed the edges, added to a piece of Kraft scrap. Adorn it with my favorite Vintage Mother of Pearl Buttons adhered down over the stack of hearts. LOVE IT!

Part of our Challenge was to decorate our envelopes as well...I knew I wasn't
mailing my card, so I created a mini sample of my card.
I found the word 'LOVE" in one of the Canvas Corp printed papers and cut out
a tag top (around that word)...added more colored seam binding..adorn with button.

I love the riches in the color tones of this card.

Easy Tutorial
I didn't have any ribbon to match my burlap heart...so I colored my own.

Step 1. To pick out the right Tattered Angels Glimmer mist.
I choose "Red Chillies" sprayed on
seam binding in cream..it's that easy!

Step 2. Crinkling the colored seam binding in your hand (I use a paper towel)
to help soak up any extra glimmer mist. And rub your hands together
fast which helps to wrinkle (crinkles) the binding...for a vintage feel.

I die cut the heart out...to match the seam binding I sprayed the
burlap heart with the same mist.

Step 4. Let's not let the mist go to waste....I dragged the burlap
heart through the glimmer mist on my mat.

Gives great depth and texture to the burlap heart.

Here is a close up of the colored seam binding...I love using
glimmer mist to help match my scrapbooking papers and cards.

What's awesome is yes I will be giving this to my hubby, I will
be able to gaze upon this beauty all I want...
Thinking it will need a special place to sit in our home.

There is nothing better than a "handmade" card, give it a try I know it
will make someone smile and they will cherish it forever.

Thanks for stopping by today,
be sure to jump over to the Canvas Corp Brands Blog, here.
And join us in the Crew Challenge...they
have a great prize waiting for a lucky winner.

Love Wishes,
Peggy Lee
