MPTS November Challenge

Theme "Leafless Trees"
Material: buttons and felt
Technique: ink blending

I started out with a shipping tag-hand sketch a tree on the tag, with using my Distress inks I worked the beautiful fall colors onto the shipping tag with my blending tool. Then I cut out the same tree shape out of wool felt and glued to the tag, added some buttons. Card base is out of Kraft card stock and pattern paper was stitched on along with the tag. Added some burlap and sentiment.

This was a super fun challenge, fall is one of my all time fav's!!!! Hope you enjoy all the Design Team Members projects for more on them jump over to More Paper Than Shoes blog for tons of eyecandy delight.

October MPTS Mid-Month Challenge

Over at MPTS blog we hosted a October Mid-Month Challenge.

I had this completed but missed the deadline, because I have been sick with a cold for the past few days. I am still posting this art piece for it turned out better than I thought it would.

Challenge was-Create a card or project using:

Theme: Nature-Great for Fall!!! Leaves, flowers, etc!
Supplies: "piece" of the outdoors (like a pressed leaf or flower, twig, etc.)
and a Vintage button/broach.

My Steps:
* A Vintage find-frame that was chipped and perfect the way it was, but I wanted a brassier look so I brushed on Distress Crackle Paint-Tarnished Brass from Ranger.

*Recycled a piece of cardboard and ripped away-covered with Claudine Hellmuth's Studio Acrylic Paint-Blank Canvas

*Aged around that piece with Distress Ink-Vintage Photo from Ranger.

*Nature: I used all three of the items from my hydrangea bush that was turned rustie color for the season (normally pink/white).

*Leaves and Ribbon: My friend Lynne Forysthe taught me how to use my reinkers in a whole new way!!!!

Ready here we go-first you will need a Mini-Mister from Ranger, your favorite reinker (I used Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge and Fired Brick) fill mister with one to two droplets full of ink, then with Perfect Pearl (I used copper) two tiny dashes and fill with water-note not all the way to the top, leave about 1/2 inch for when you replace the sprayer the liquid will raise a little....Shake the Mister well and start having fun!!!!!

*Ribbon: Seam binding another treat from my friend Lynne was inked with the same mixtures-
the Leaves are Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves die cut...love it....I cut the leaves out of a piece of muslin that I first brushed with Mutli Matte Medium-Claudine Hellmuth's wonderful glue....which again my friend Lynne turned me onto....

*Last but not least-I looked through my button collection and found a mother of pearl button that was perfect for this art piece....

Thanks for joining us over a MPTS, please leave me a comment so I can thank you....

MPTS September Challenge

So this months challenge was a doozie!!!! This challenge pushed me so hard out of my creative box, I was burning a hole in my brain thinking what was I going to create!!!! Then I remembered that one hot summer day back many, many years ago, when my girls and I were up home visiting my mother in Maine, and it was sooo hot out and no pool to be had. My mother said girls I have a great idea, lets fill up this old bucket ( your mother and uncle Peter used to take their baths in it on Saturday evenings on the farm) so they sure did....the photos speak loud and clear my girls had a blast, they played in that old bucket the whole time we visited. Generations of memories to scrap about.... RUSTY BUCKET
Theme: "Rustic (rusty bucket)

Supplies: Metal and Twine (or wire)
Surface: Any
Technique: Torn Paper

Hop on over to MPTS blog challenge to see more inspiring artwork from the other DT Members, and while your at it-dig through your stash and create a piece of art with "Rusty Bucket" in mind..I would love to see your art....

close up of my stamped flowers, inked and curled to pop off the page....

I started with Cosmo Cricket 12x12 paper (I had in my stash), inked the edges with CTMH Chocolate ink, distressed the edges of photos, taped down and torn the edges to show the white core-also inked the edges in Chocolate...
punched two little holes on each edge of the photo and tired hemp in a knot-to add texture and depth...
took another Cosmo Cricket pattern paper that matched and tore both sides and inked to draw the eye. added a little journal box lined with antique brads, to off set the Metal Letters I used to spell out "Bucket Suds"
This layout still needed more, and plus my girls were in the photos and we love flowers, so I grabbed a couple of stamp sets and inked in many colors, cut out and inked edges, and distressed to give a muted look- and whoo looa handmade flowers to match...
Supplies I used:
Cosmo Cricket paper
Hemp-colored
Glossy Accents
Double sided sticky tape
Metal Letters
Making Memories Brads
Due Drops
CTMH:
Inks: Chocolate, Sunflower, Garden Green, Barn Red, and Juniper
Stamps: Funky Florals, With Love (old stamp sets that I had on hand)
enjoy visiting the DT blogs: create on

MPTS AUGUST CHALLENGE

Let the Challenge begin!!!! It is time for the DT reveal of the August Challenge over at http://morepaperthanshoes.blogspot.com/

Theme: "Vintage Paris"

Supplies to use: fabric, metal, acrylic paint
Surface: any
Technique: crackle

This challenge was just that "a challenge" for me it sure did push me out of my creative box into WOW!!!
My supplies for Paris was very limited but I did find awesome paper from Graphic 45 and work it up with gel med, paint, glimmer mist, distress inks! Stamped on muslin, added crackle paint to give the canvas a weathered feel and did 5 layers of Utee on the tower, let dry and started to crack it...made a rolled satin black flower-with burned edges, added button and little roses....whoola

close up of the satin flower, cut circles out of fabric, holding it over a candle (very careful-have a bowl of water next to you in case the fabric catches on fire) singed the edges lightly and stack together sew a small stitch in and pull to winkle the flower add a button and you have your own flower.

Be sure to check out the other DT members blogs, and visit MPTS blog.
