Dad & Me

Look how cute my husband was as a young lad!!! This layout is of Lee and his father Carl back in the day, I just love Lee's pj's he is wearing. Memories of yesterday warms my heart and is bittersweet. OK enough of that Peggy or I will start tearing up. Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show Blog they are having another weekly challenge and it was to use "Ephemera". I had made these shipping tags with old book pages from a children's book and glue them on and inked the edges with distress inks. I knew I wanted to use them in my scrapbooking layout.  I used Graphic 45 "LeRomantique Collection-Celebration & Die Cut Alphabet 2" as my starting point, to me Graphic 45 screams vintage!!!!
Here is a close up of the shipping tags and yes I used some of my vintage lace and trims that I have been collecting. Along with Webster's pages green/brown ribbon, it want perfect with the colors I chose.
And I couldn't resist using these Tattered Floral Die Cuts to make my own flowers with chipboard, cut them out then ran them through a cuttle bug with Tim Holtz texture fades embossing folders and used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Turquoise Blue, Sunflower and Coffee Shop) to give the flowers some shine. Also I used the Tattered Leaves Die and then ran Distress ink Vintage Photo over the embossed image and the edges, to give the worn look. To give this layout a manly feel (with all the floral going on) I add Tim's Idea-ology metal lines (brads, foliage, hitches) to give depth and rustic feel. Love it!!! Who doesn't love metal on their layouts!!
Are you inspired yet? Jump over to SSS blog and play along with their challenge this week, it's really fun to create and have a chance to win a prize.

Happy creating, Peggy Lee
