Christmas in July-Handmade Ornaments

Christmas in July-Handmade Ornaments

Make wonderful gifts for friends and family as well as adorning your home for
the holidays or using them as gift tags to hang on your wrapped gifts!

Over on my Facebook I did a LIVE creating these handmade ornaments, here.

I used a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die to cut out these ornament shapes...I gathered items to embellish the
ornaments like vintage textured wallpaper, olde book paper, vintage music sheets, glitter, flowers, buttons....so much more....just search your scrappy supplies and have fun!

I also used printables, I search for free printables and printed away, cut
them out and glue to chipboard!

I also used Prima's Sweet Peppermint paper collection to create this mint green ornament with
Santa No Peeking....just so adorable!

Glitter and pipe cleaners are the cutest embellishments for ornaments for that vintage look and feel!
Who doesn't love glitter....lol

I even white washed my chip board ornament shapes with white paint, and cut out Santa heads
from the scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby....just love how simple and sweet these turned out.

2019 Recap Part 2

2019 Recap Part 2
I saw 2019 with a giggle since this year isn't over yet, I'm just so
behind on my blogging. Let's chat about Christmas crafting it's one of our
favorite things to do during the holiday season. This one is super fun and
 budget friendly for the family!

Handmade Cards
Simple and easy just take a toilet paper roll cardboard center and wrap
q-tips around the paper roll using a rubber band to hold them together.
Gather a few different green paints, 1 red paint, and 1 yellow gold paint color.

Dip the paper roll wrap in the green paint and gently pat down onto
your card base of white card stock. As I dipped and pat down I would rotate
the paper roll wrap to give more texture.

Repeat the same with the yellow gold paint.

For the red paint for the berries....I wrapped three q-tips
together...dabbing it into the red paint also I rotated it
around the wreath to give the berries different placement.

This was a super fun project grab a few supplies and get crafty!
Thanks for popping in today!

Altered Vintage Style Mailbox for CCB Crew Challenge: 12 x 12 Kraft Envelope

Over on the Canvas Corp Brands Blog, HERE is showcasing all the
amazing artwork from the CREW...
"It is All About The 12 x 12 Kraft Envelope Crew Challenge

Here is my take on this challenge using a 12 x 12 Kraft
Envelope I received in my design team package.

Altered Vintage Style Mailbox

I even used Canvas Corp Brands Names on the mailbox
CCB, 7g and TA

I dug through my stash for embellishments as well as created a little
"welcome" banner using 7g Architextures papers.

I so love how the CCB Tissue Stock with layers of
Tattered Angels glimmer mist and paint gives such great texture!

Our challenge was to create a piece of art with the envelope we
personally got in our design team package.
You can purchase these envelopes over on the Canvas Corp Brands
Shop, HERE.

I received the 12x12 Kraft Envelope in my design team package,
and this was a super fun challenge. Here is a small walk through
of how I turned a plain 12x12 Kraft Envelope into an
Altered Vintage Style Mailbox!

I started by laying the envelope down on a scoring board, scoring about an
1 inch in on both sides and bottom.
Fold your score lines a few times helps to give a good crease .

Fold  in on the fold lines to create a bag like shape.
Glue down the two triangle points to the bottom and on the top
fold the closing flap in half as well as the front flap to the envelope.

Not shown-I took chipboard and cut to size of all sides, front and back including
the closing flaps. I cut to sizes, taped together to create a box shape to slide inside
of the envelope to give strength and shape to the envelope.

I took Canvas Corp Tissue Stock in Natural and Ivory (color doesn't matter)
I crinkled up the tissue stock and glued down to the envelope.
Created chipboard seams and painted with Gesso- white washed everything, this will help the Tattered Angels glimmer mist, glimmer glaze and high impact paint to stick to.

Before painting the final layer this is when I glued down all the
embellishments like the 7G Architextures Tin Tile, hardware and letters.
Painted it with a layer of  Light Blue of Tattered Angels High Impact paint.

Grab your favorite Tattered Angels glimmer mist and glimmer glazes and color away.
Many layers of mist just keep adding til you get the effect you are looking for.
Allow to dry and then embellish even more, I created a little
"welcome" banner using 7G Architextures papers.
I created a little stack of faux letters and adorn it with spring time florals.

Primitive Shabby Christmas Decorations-Handmade

I love my primitive shabby rag strip garland...
I created this garland a few years back to
hang on my tree...which is so pretty wrapped
around the tree with lights twinkling!

But this Christmas I decided to hang it on my curtain
rod on my living room window...it was a perfect
backdrop for the Christmas tree so loved it!

I found some rusty jingle bells on jute twine garland
at the Christmas Tree Shop a few years back and added them
to my Christmas decorations this year.

Hoping to share more of our Christmas Season with you all, soon but
right now we are up to our necks with boxes and packing for a move.
Crazy I know it to move during the Holidays Crazy I say!

But it is what it is-keep moving forward one box at a time, haha.

Thanks for stopping by,

BE INSPIRED

Here is my take on the DIY Handmade Christmas Ornaments!
I started with a simple dollar store find plastic candy canes...
I gathered my Canvas Corp Brands supplies and hot glue gun-oh yes
put on some favorite Christmas music!
Let the creating begin....I have a Step by Step Tutorial in this long blog post!
But I wanted to share how easy and fun it is to create...enjoy!

I so love the natural canvas shabby torn look with the amazing
Petaloo flowers with the natures tiny pine cones...

Step by Step Tutorial

Step 1-Dollar Store Candy Canes & Canvas Corp Canvas
I tear small sections out of the natural canvas.

Step 2-Start by wrapping the canvas around the candy cane
using hot glue.

Whoola see how fun and easy it is to change (alter)
a simple candy cane...this opens up a world of creativity...

Step 3-Grab your favorite Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist!
I used Dazzling Diamonds to give the natural canvas a
soften feel.

Step 4-Start coloring your embellishments...
Here I am coloring in layers on Petaloo flowers and trims.
(coloring layers-start with your lightest glimmer to darkest).

Adding darker glimmer mist just running it around the edges
of the flowers this will bleed into the centers with
a little water to help push the color in....fun technique.

I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist-
Abominable Snowman & Snowy Pines as well.

Step 5-Create leaves out of Canvas Corp's natural burlap.
I just cut little squares, started on one corner and cut out
a leaf shape...all mine are different sizes.

Step 6-Color your burlap leaves with Tattered Angels
Glimmer Mist Partridge in a Pear Tree.

Step 7-Edge the burlap leaves with Tattered Angels
Glimmer Glam Glitter Paint-Lime Cordial.
Dry them and add a layer of gel mediumn on them
(this helps for the burlap not to unravel)

Step 8-Start to embellish I used another
dollar store find white snowflakes ornaments.
I cut them apart to tuck in around the flower cluster.

Skies the limits on embellishing! I used cheese cloth,
trims, flowers, jute, snowflake, tiny pine cones and
for the finishing touch, Decor Art Snow-Tex...

Up close photos....enjoy!
