Day 15-16 HomeSpun Holiday

Day 15-16 of 25 Days til Christmas HomeSpun Holiday.
My days are starting to run together as the time for Christmas day approaches, my list get longer and more projects and gifts to make get longer. Not even the making of cookies and goodies to give.
All this to share one of my gifts I finished last night is this stationary box filled with cards for my mother-in-law. I am so glad it's done, and I love it so much (I kinda want to keep it) but I won't, it turned out really sweet and pretty.  I used Claudine Hellmuth Studio white paint and covered a paper mache box, then I selected my papers and Lee's mom loves old vintage story books (that we all read as a child) and this new paper line from Creative Imaginations IOD was perfect for this little box. I used multi-medium glue also by Claudine to adhere the papers to the box, added some pink trim around and created a little collage of papers on top, added this little white frame from Melissa Frances-created a little photo scene with the little girl and frog..how cute.
I took the same papers IOD and created these paper roses (which I have created alot, but this style is a little different-I learned this decorative edge from Tracey Mason a CTMH sista), please hop over and visit her blog and you will be blown away by a wedding cake she made out of papers and these roses! I added some more trims, punched out some pine bowes and finished off the roses with pearls. Last step I hot glued some wooden balls that I painted white to match for the bottom of the box for feet.

                                                          Shabby Chic goodness...
So this morning for Day 16-I am enjoying my hot cups of coffee and yes that's right cups!!! lol I started to remember last Christmas and how we enjoyed the family time together so I wanted to share a memory with you on this day...our girls sure know how to have fun fighting over the last of the candy canes...silly girls I had another whole box to put out....no they were really have fun...honest!Give me that Candy Cane!!! NO!!! UUU give me it!

Girls will be Girls!!

Day 7 & Day 8-HomeSpun Holiday

Day 7 & Day 8 of 25 Days til Christmas!! Since I was sick yesterday so I decided to combine the two days and good thing for it's a long post. Day 7 started with creating some Homespun Shabby Chic Ornaments.  Here are some snowflake ornaments I bought tons of last year at the $$ store, (you get 10 for a $) what a deal. Now you can find them in almost any color you want. Walmart even has them for $3.oo.
Step 1:  using the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die cut, here I cut the floral out of pink felt.
Step 2:  you will need a snowflake, the four tattered floral felt pieces.
Step 3:  Stack the felt florals one on top of the other, with a needle and thread, sew on a button through all the felt layers. (or you can hot glue each layer together and hot glue a pearl or gem in the center).
your floral will look like this-
Step 4:  Hot glue the felt floral to the white snowflake.
press together carefully-not to burn yourself on the hot glue (I mean it's HOT)!! ouch
Almost done!!!! here is what it looks like so far, so shabby cute....
Here is one that I added a pearl to the center and some tinsel too!!! I really love this one...
Step 5:  To make them sparkle and pop more, I added Silver Stickles to the ornament by first squeezing a dab on my craft matt and using my finger to control where I rub the glitter on....(please excuse my messy fingers I was coloring some fabric leaves before)....

Step 6:  These snowflakes came with sliver hangers on them, but you can use any kind of trim as the hanger, or put a pin back on them to where on a Christmas Sweater or place pop dots on the back on the snowflake and use in a scrapbook layout or a card!!!!
here is a close up of my fave!!!!!
Hope you enjoy making some Shabby Chic Ornaments to adorn your tree or put on your gifts as a tag. Now onto some sneak peaks of some handmade gifts I have been working on... Gift card set that I am not quite done with yet (will show when completed)  I just love these two little birds talking to each other-resting on some lovely tinsel mesh I found at Walmart  yesterday. The scrapbook papers are from Creative Imaginations IOD are so amazing and exciting to play with I feel like I am back in grade school in art class.

I loved the snowflake ornament so much, I placed one on a card to go in the gift basket I am making for my mother in law (shhhhh) it's ok she doesn't have Internet so she won't see....
Well that's it for this Homespun Holiday tips and ideas....loving this challenge I am doing for the 25 Days til Christmas....it's pushing me outside my box.

brr it's cold outside like 17 degrees!!!!!!

MPTS October Challenge #2 Harvest or Fall

It's that time again over at More Paper Than Shoes blog, for our monthly challenge-this month we have such a treat for you "Two Challenges!!!". A Halloween or Harvest/Fall Challenge!!!

I decided to create for the Harvest/Fall challenge-since I totally love pumpkins and crows!!!! here is my little creations.....enjoy

Theme: Harvest or Fall-"Think Crop Season on the Farm!"

Requirements:

Supplies: Glitter and ribbon

Embellishment: Hand made flower

Technique: Embossing

Surface: Any

I used a chipboard die cut of a crow, traced it onto a chipboard that would hold ink-cut him out and dragged black soot ink over the crow. Using Verza Mark embossing ink applied to the Crow-topped off with black embossing powder and heat set it to give a natural look. I also stamped a snowflake and embossed it to use as a spider web (that's a great way to use your stamp sets you have laying on a shelf-think, outside the box with your stamps)!! Add some glitter and you have a cute little Halloween or fall decoration.

A close up of my little crow and his punkin patch-he is sure celebrating Harvest in style. One of our challenges was to create a hand made flower-this one was a tough one cause I could have made a ton of flowers-but this little cutie needed just the right flower. So here it is a "Lollipop Flower" made from a strip of pattern paper, scored and folded-then glued the ends together to form a circle, popping the folded circle down on top of a scrap piece of paper and adding glossy accents to bond the edges together. whoo looa a very cute flower-add a little black pearl and my punkin patch is complete.

A side view-the little pumpkins are scented home decoration to fill your home of fall spice. I couldn't resist using them in the patch...and the little stem berries I sprayed with Glimmer mist (sunflower, brick and coffee shop) to give it a more rustic feel. Wrapped the stems together and hot glued in place.

Supplies used:

Paper Mache' box
Paint (Making Memories)
Papers (Scenic Route Papers and Basic Grey new Jovial Nordic)
Stamps (CTMH: pumpkin patch, snowflakes #D1171, Hero Arts: pumpkins)
Inks (Ranger Distress Ink: black soot, Rustie Hinge, Wild Honey, Archival Black ink, Verza Mark)
Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels: sunflower, brick, coffee shop)
Embossing Powder (CTMH: black)
Glitter (Martha Stewart: green)
Ribbon
Ranger (stickles aqua, Glossy Accents,Inks)
Pearls and Gems black (Hero Arts)
Adhesive: (Tombo, Hot Glue, White Glue, Glossy Accents)

scrap on,

Creative Juices

My Creative Juices sure have been flowing lately, I have been busy cleaning and organizing my scrap space and trying to be brave on getting rid of stuff that I am not using. Boy that is a hard one, but I know someone else will be blessed to have my unwanted treasures. Here is a mini album I created about my daughter Emilee, she graduated from the 8th grade and so to honor her I did a mini with black and white photos, here Emilee and her sis Olivia sharing a moment at graduation, love the new fabric paper that Creative Imagination has out, thats what I used to stamp the word SISTERS on.
The cover of the mini: I used the new paper from Basic Grey "Cappella" sooo beautiful!!! with Prima ribbon, and Websterpages trims and so much more....

close up of Prima flowers, so little pretties.....

here is a Tag I made for a DT (I submitted), this little tag turned out so cute I must say!!

I used Graphic 45 new paper, Prima flowers, Tim Holtz die, inks, stickles, Websterpages trims, Hero Art stamp.....so much more.....I do love this tag-with a little feathers for a shabby chic touch...

Let your creative juices flow with a trip to your local scrapbook store and buy something new you don't have and combine it with your already stash....let the creativtiy begin...
