MOJO Monday/ MOJO#306 "Shabby Card"

Wow I haven't played along in a long while so I decided last night while gazing upon Marion Smith's new digital printables "Scarlet" which you can find at www.marionsmithdesigns.com
a card was a must to create and little shabby and pink!
So along with the digital prints and a Die~Namites Die "Bamboo Sticks" (www.die~namites.com).
I started adding gesso/stucco with mask design...Distressing all the edges and white washing all the papers...to give a softness to the papers for the card.
I didn't have a scallop punch available big enough for what I needed I turned to my CTMH Cricut Art Philosopy and Artiste Cartridges...added a pretty little Prima flower and leaves....sprayed a fine mist of Perfect Pearls Mists: blue patina!!!

Here are some close ups of the digital papers and die-bamboo sticks....just love all the texture!

Tip-look in your local stores Christmas section for great embellishments for a dollar...snowflakes are so fun to create with and give a little sprinkle. Washi tape and glitter make such a wow factor in your minis.
Grand Printable kit makes wonderful cards as well....here is a Christmas card "JOY", love the little Chevron reindeer....

Primrose Mini Book

Here is my  Primrose Mini Book that I had the pleasure to create with this beauty...this little mini is full of simple pleasures and vintage flare. I love this mini so much that it's perfect for a Mother's Day gift for my special mom and mother-in-law. I can see this sitting on their nightstand with a crocheted doily and a pen to jot down their little thoughts of their day.

Simply print out and cut away! I used chip board, brown paper with Distress Stain-Walnut ink and used multi-medium gel over the covers to give a leather feel. Adorn this little beauty with a wonderful find at a antique store this pretty lace trim. My binding is from Marion Smith's binding technique from her Journey Book. (special video for binding when you purchase the Journey Book).

Printed my digital pages on white card stock, added some extra pages with the same card stock dyed with Vintage Photo reinker, water, perfect pearl powder mixture. Used my distressed edger on all the papers to give a worn look.

Then comes the favorite part "embellishing" who wouldn't love it-added some vintage items I had in my stash, twine, little charms and Prima flowers. I believe that embellishments are the icing on the cake.

Hop over to Artsy Addicts Blog for more pics and info on this little mini!
Supplies:
Primrose Printable Mini Book Kit, White card stock, chipboard, Distress inks and stain (walnut ink, vintage photo), Prima flowers, vintage lace, buttons, twine, charms (7Gypsies, Tim Holtz)

Scrap Journal

This past Friday I had a small surgery (no surgery is small when they knock you out) but with healing I haven't been able to play for the past few days, I couldn't stand it any more I need to get my hands inky. I told myself OK Peggy you only have about 1/2 hour before the pain sets in...lol
So I decided I wanted to create my first page in my scrap journal, see over on face book there is a group called Keep On Scrappin and it's about creating a simple notebook style scrap booking, using only scraps  and bits... I said OK only use what is in front of you. That was leftovers from my dreaming of spring project. This is what I came up with for my first page.
Step 1- gather a simple notebook, gesso the first page while it was still tacky I sprayed glimmer mist and distress inks, then ran my wet brush over it all to smooth out the colors. Added some script stamp.

Step 2-look and see what scraps were laying around and I had one full sheet of Marion Smith's digital page left with strips of some other pages (small strips of torn paper love), inked the edges and of course distress the edges of all paper with edge distresser or you can use a pair of scissors.

Step 3-found this cute picture of my daughter Olivia and our cat sitting in my scrap room enjoying the warm sun that shines through my bay window (I love this picture).
Step 4-embellishment and wow you would be amazed at what I have just laying around on my table, old scrabble book pages so I had to add a doily die cut from Ranger. The flower is created out of old dryer sheets and sprayed with glimmer mist, the leaves are a piece of lace trim that I just cut apart so love that trim.
I was so amazed at how easy and simple it was to create a layout just using scraps, bits and pieces just laying around my table. Don't wait jump in your scrap room and create a layout just using what is on your table, you will have fun-be free-don't over think it-just create!!!

Supplies:
Marion Smith Feb. digitals
gesso white paint
Tattered Angels glimmer mist (jazz blue, tutti fruitti)
Ranger's Distress inks, stains (brushed cordruory, walnut stain, picket fence and walnut stain stain)
Tim Holtz Distress Doily die cut
CTMH Stamp-script
baby wipe flower (colored with tumbled glass stain), trim lace
