The Artsy Addicts Technique Blog Hop

Friday April 29th, 2011
Welcome to our Artsy Addicts Technique Blog Hop!!!!
If you just arrived from Katherine's blog you are on the right path.
My tip and technique for you today is "sanding, ripping, crinkling, inking"!!!
Here is what I created "Tag"!!

First I started out with a plain shipping tag, added glue to it placed it down on top of some colored card stock that is from Close To My Heart. The special awesome thing about CTMH card stock and paper is that it has a white core, which makes it great for embossing, sanding, ripping and crinkling. So much fun!

CTMH card stock has a white core middle...
Here is the shipping tag after I ran it through the cuddle bug with the swirl embossing folder and see how awesome the white core shows up when sanded.
                                                                        so pretty
Rip out a piece of pattern paper and crinkle really well to create a weathered and worn look, then run Distress Ink (Walnut stain) over the paper lightly to add depth and color. How cool is that.
                                                                    vintage feel
Now let's not forget to hop back to Angela's blog where this blog hop all started!! Now here is a twist if you have visited my blog please be sure to leave me a comment below and I will put your name in for a little art giveaway prize!!!! whooo who doesn't love a special treat. Thanks for creating with me.

Mini Bird Cage Album

Mini Bird Cage Album "Love"

Spring time is in the air with the sunshine and birds singing in the morning I was in the creative mood to make a mini album. And when I saw this beautiful new line of Butterfly Garden scrapbook papers from Pink Paislee I knew I was creating a birdcage album. Inspired from one of the scrapbook papers that had this wonderful birdcage image with roses and butterflies.
Here are the first few pages of the mini album: trimmed with lace and Prima flowers with little tiny butterfly punches to give the feeling of walking through a flower garden. I created little shipping tags to have for journal spots through out the album.
This next set of pages are soooo girly with the awesome dress form die of Tim Holtz and thimble, adorned with Prima flowers, antique buttons and stamping. Gosh any girl would be happy to have their picture next to this angel. The next set of pages are created with Tim Holtz birdcage die with stamping, glimmer mist, antique lace and Prima.
To give a glitter highlight I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist through out the album, by painting it on different images and spraying tags, birdcage and trims.
This whole birdcage mini album was created with only 6 scrapbook papers from Pink Paislee, one piece of pink Bazzil card stock, chipboard, charms, metals and pearls from Tim Holtz line, Distress ink, glimmer mist, antique lace and buttons (from my travels in Ca) and a little imagination.
Step one: trace birdcage image out of the scrapbook paper.
Step two: make a chipboard pattern and glue onto the card stock and papers.
Step three: using a craft knife or scissors trim out the birdcages to create your front and back covers of album.
Step four: with chipboard create inner pages and glue to scrapbook papers and cut out.

Step five: sand the edges to create a smooth look and distress the edges with ink to give a vintage feel, deside how to bind your album (I used my crock-a-dile to create two holes to add jump rings) you could also use your Bind-it-all. Then you are ready to create and fill your album with memories.
Supplies:
scrapbook paper: Pink Paislee "Butterfly Garden" Collection
distress ink: brushed corduroy, walnut ink
stamp set: Close To My Heart "Find Your Style"
glimmer mist: Tattered Angels (frost, olive vine, coffee shop and turqouise)
flowers: Prima Collections (Essentials Fight of Fancy, Arcadian, Cameo Roses, Marri Botanical and E-line flowers)
metals: Tim Holtz book plate
jump rings: 7gypies
embellishments: antique lace and buttons, satin seam binding, pearls, shipping tags.
