Marion Smith Designs Blog-Wall Art "Valentine Rose" & Tutorial

My post on the Marion Smith Designs blog....
Good morning today I bring you some Valentine eye candy!!
I have started early creating my own wall art/home decor for our home.
Using the Mad Tea Party paper collection by Marion Smith....and embellishment page
to create my Valentine Rose wall art piece.
I love the shabby chic vintage feel and look...

The lovely embellishment pages from the Mad Tea Party
paper line works great for wall art, cards, scrapbook pages.

Wall Art Tutorial
Prime wood piece with gesso, add texture with your favorite mask/stencil.
Spray your favorite mist...I used glimmer mist!
Give it a white wash with gesso...that is your background to build upon.
Rip the edges of the paper you choose, along with tearing holes
in your paper to give old feel...distress the edges with ink.
I also used a wet paint brush to moist the edges to curl up...
Pick your favorite flowers and embellishments...I gesso the fake
flowers and glimmer mist the Petaloo white flowers...great way to get the color you want.
Wood Veneers are great to add to your project...colored
with glimmer mist..stamp on and cut apart to tuck into your project.

Thanks for stopping by today,
Hugs

Artsy Addicts: Flying High Altered Book Page

Happy New Year everyone!!
This year I have decided to do more creative play.
Since I created this altered book last year for Marion's design team blog...so it's time to fill it up.
This altered page is called "flying high"!!
I used Marion Smith Designs stamp sets
 called "Flying High and Curious.
These balloon stamp images I had laying around my work table...
so why not use them up...on a page.

Enjoy the eye candy of inspiration!!

you can find out more about it here.

Here is this month’s sketch.....

Dare for January is......use Texture on your dies!!

My Take on this sketch challenge is all about "TEXTURE"!
Adding texture to your Die~Namites Dies cut outs...

Bird Song

Texture Tutorial
Pick size of card 6 1/2 x 5
Distress the edges of the pattern paper and card base.
Add some gesso to the edges of pattern paper-it gives the paper
a shabby chic feel...
Using your favorite mask/stencils
add texture with plaster/gesso mixture
I like to add a few layers to make it thick...
Taking the "Song Bird" die cut
I gesso the whole cut out, adding a layer of plaster
and dry with heat tool and repeat!!
I repeated this step a few times...
While the last step dries...I splattered my favorite mists
over the card front....
Last step I added even more texture
by using Viva Precious Metal Colour in Mother of Pearl
heat set it to bubble...cool texture!!
close ups...of the "song bird" die cut and texture
