Memorial Day Inspiration "Flying Flags" on Artsy Addicts Blog

Sharing on the Artsy Addicts Blog!!
This past Monday was our Memorial Day Holiday, our family
always celebrate with watching the Memorial Day Parade.
My hubby marches every year...
My heart is always full of joy, grace and grateful to all who are and have served.
Thank You to them all, even the ones who are left behind will they serve.
I love to take a photo of the flags flying every year!
I wanted a way to gaze upon it's beauty and be reminded everyday...so I created this
Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout of the Flying Flags!
Love the USA!
I used drywall tape as a stencil, I laid it down and scrapped
stucco over it, then pulled it up...it leaves great texture!!
I also used some other stencils as well.
I did some random stamping, sprayed and splattered
my favorite mists, color washes...and gesso watered down.
I found some metal letters in my stash...perfect for this layout....I am going to frame this
layout and hang it on our wall to honor my hubby and our family members who have served.
Thanks for stopping in today,
hugs

Nirvana Mixed Media Cards by Peggy Lee on MSD Blog

Hey everyone it's Peggy Lee here
sharing with you a couple of
Nirvana Mixed Media Cards!
over on the Marion Smith Designs Blog, here!
The other day I had some free time and I decided to do some creative play...
and mix it up with Kraft card stock.
I used the Nirvana paper collections and stamps by Marion.

I grabbed a stencil and drywall tape with gesso to create background
texture. Stamping and splattered of glimmer mist makes my heart sing!!
My favorite part was getting to play with Marion's new Bloom Impressions Tool,
brown packing paper and a flower punch...I really love how the tool makes
the paper flowers cup to give great depth.

Here is a video by Marion Smith sharing with us how to use

My Hero "Father's Day Card" over on Artsy Addicts Blog

Good morning everyone it's my day over on the Artsy Addicts Blog today
sharing, with Father's Day upon us soon in just a few
short weeks...I wanted to share with you all one of my cards.
I used a stamp set called "My Hero"!
Started with a white card base.
Stamped the airplane in chocolate ink (second generations stamping).
I also fussy cut out the images from the Skylark paper packet...
Inked all the edges with chocolate ink.
I popped up the images with tucking the banners to give
depth to the card...like the banners are flying.
As I type this blog post I remember my father who has been gone
for  many years...I so miss him, love him more deeply!!
I try to share memories of him with my daughters, telling them stories
that he would share, songs he would sing....
I believe even though he is not with us, He Is!

created an AMAZING sketch for us to work with!

April Showers bring May Flowers - so we thought it would be fun to have
this month's Dare to be a Handmade Flower.

Here is my take on May's Sketch Challenge & Dare for Die~Namites!!!
I knew from the sketch this would make a great idea for creating a
Mother's Day Card.

I knew right away I wanted to use Die~Namites Die "Mom's Nest" die
for my card...so I cut it apart.
I cut the momma bird and nest full of birdies
away from the branches and leaves.
Colored them with Distress Inks from Ranger, tucked
them in behind the handmade flower. Which
is also a Die~Namites Die "Elegant Flake" cut three times,
colored with Prima's chalk ink in Teal Damask.
I loved stacking them on top of another!!
To create the Dare "Handmade Flower" with a die image...so fun!
Here are the Dies I used for my card.

Moms Nest

and

Elegant Flake

It's a great way to get usage for stretching your die images,
cut them apart...and tuck in around the flower.

Added texture to the Mother bird and babies...
with some Distress Stickles in Rock Candy.
And a Liquid Pearls-Bisque for a little bird eye...love it.

I grabbed some new papers from Close To My Heart
called Skylark Paper Packets with the Skylark Assortment Embellishments.
As well as the stamp set called
A Mother's Love by CTMH.
Added a paper doily, cheese cloth and seam binding to the card....

Here are some close ups!!!
Enjoy the gazing upon the Die~Namites Dies!!!!

my mixed media card over on the Marion Smith Designs Blog today!!
Every gal needs some creative play...
I used the "Never Grow Up" paper collections and stamps
The fun part of creative play...no rules...is that you can use up
scraps and bits & pieces that you have laying around your desk.
Like these gears I had cut from another projects,
that I inked up with Distress inks, gesso and a little stamping to give
more texture.
I was given these adorable Petaloo new burlap blossoms...oh my
so yummy to work with....I grabbed my Tattered Angels glimmer mist
adding two colors give some depth!
My favorite part of Marion's designs is the images you can cut out
and tuck into your projects...(which is a great way to stretch your papers).
I fussy cut out these tickets, distressed the edges...I also stamped on them
as well as splattered glimmer mist over them....
LOVE THIS GRUNGE LOOK!
Have you just sat down and grabbed a few paper supplies and just let lose?
